News 11 May 2022 Ambitious plans for new Zweegers Equipment Group

The agriculture division of ZBG was subsumed under Zweegers Equipment Group on 9 May 2022. This new group was founded by Frank Zweegers and Gerrit van der Scheer. Ambitious plans are afoot for a major expansion of the machinery portfolio in the agriculture, lawn and park, construction and industry sectors with companies in Europe and later in North America too. Current turnover is approximately €250 million.

Parent company ZBG was launched by Frank Zweegers in 1982 and is focused on developing – and investing in – real estate, agriculture and technology. ZBG Group has a solid financial structure. By setting up Zweegers Equipment Group, Frank Zweegers and Gerrit van der Scheer got the intention to give the equipment business a major boost.

Experienced leadership

Zweegers Equipment Group is headed up by Gerrit van der Scheer (CEO), whose many years of involvement in Royal Reesink have given him an unrivalled knowledge of the equipment business. Under his leadership, Royal Reesink grew into an international distributor and service provider for a wide array of equipment brands.

The Executive Board of Zweegers Equipment Group is completed with the appointment of Ronald Ruesink as CFO, who was previously with KPMG and Royal Reesink, where he last served in the role of Financial Director. The Supervisory Board consists of Cees Veerman (chair), Erik van de Merwe and Hans Büthker.

Long-term relationships with focus on human touch

Hence Zweegers Equipment Group is in a good position to build on this considerable expertise vis-à-vis setting up a high-quality service organisation. Gerrit van der Scheer: ‘Doing fair business is our top priority, based on mutual respect and trust. That goes for our customers, business associates and certainly also our staff, who are able to develop their talents to the full in a safe setting here. We believe in fostering long-term relationships, driven by strong, local entrepreneurship and with a marked focus on the human touch and an eye for detail in the business. And last but by no means least, we are keen to actively support our customers when it comes to reducing the carbon footprint of their activities’.

Portfolio

With distribution and retail activities for prestigious brands in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy, the Mechan Group forms part of Zweegers Equipment Group.

Danish firm Maskinhandler Indkøbsringen A/S (MI) was recently added to ZBG and henceforth will be subsumed under Zweegers Equipment Group as well. MI is active as a distributor and service provider in the agriculture and lawn and park sectors. The company also holds distribution rights for several brands in Sweden.

This machinery portfolio is to be expanded in the agriculture, lawn and park, construction and industrial sectors over the next few years.

Entrepreneurship in our DNA

Gerrit van der Scheer: ‘I am delighted with the partnership with Frank Zweegers. We both come from passionate, entrepreneurial families with strong roots in the agricultural industry. Our passion for machinery and our drive to make a positive contribution to our customers and the world are truly in our DNA. That gives us a unique connection with one another and provides a solid foundation for success’.
